Congratulations! You (accidentaly) stumbled upon my blog, let me introduce myself. My name is Thomas, I am 16 years old and I live in Belgium. I’ve been playing drums for 9 years now, I’m in a youth movement since I was 7 and I do jujutsu. The latter I’m doing only since last years, but I’ve already received my yellow belt. In school I study maths and science, this means I have 8 periods of math in a week. Luckily I realy like maths.
The reason I’m writing this blog is that I want to share with you my food habits, my favourite food and restaurant and much more.
My favourite dish
I don’t really have an absolute favourite dish. When people ask me about it I usually just say lasagna, but there’s a lot of dishes that I love. Lasagna, of course, is one of them, I really love it. Spaghetti too. Friday is always pasta day for me, that’s one of the reasons I love fridays. Often during vacation my parents ask me to help cooking spaghetti or lasagna, but by now I can do it all by myself. Sometimes on special occasions we eat cannelloni, that’s even better. It’s a lot of work though, my dad always fills all the cannallonis one by one, but I really appreciate it. My birthday is one of those occasions, I’ll probably ask for it again this year.
My dessert of choice is Moelleux. We always eat it on new year’s eve, I think it’s become a tradition. There’s one problem though, we always forget how long you have to put it in the oven. We probably forgot to write it down this year too.
Talking about food traditions, there’s another one: gingerbread cake. It’s a recipe from my grandmother’s mother. On family feasts there’s always gingerbread cake, my grandmother used to make it, but she passed the recipe on to her children and grandchildren. Sadly I don’t know the recipe yet. But I can give you a very good one for moelleux!
Here’s what you need:
- 5 eggs
- 150g dark chocolate
- 160g butter
- 65g flour
- 50g sugar
Preparation:
- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- Soften the butter. Add sugar and butter and whip them up.
- Add the eggs to the mixture.
- Heat the chocolate in a bowl over a pot of water on stove until melted.
- Add the chocolate, then the flour to the mixture.
- Grease individual ramequins with butter, then line them with either sugar or flour. Fill them 3/4 of the way.
- Bake for 9 minutes. Do not let the center cook! Serve immediately, preferably with a creme anglaise though vanilla ice cream also works well.

My favourite restaurant
My favourite resaurant is without a doubt Wok Plaza in Genk. For a fixed price you can eat as much asian food as you want, they have literally everything you could wish for! You can start by getting soup or just immediately fill a plate with seafood and let someone stir fry it for you with a large variety of sauces to choose from. Then there are a lot of other dishes you can eat: sushi, spring rolls, breaded shrimps and much more. If you are not full yet, you can go to the dessert buffet and eat as much pastries and ice cream as you want. You’d better not go there if you’re on a diet!
